In the spirit of co-operation between countries

EU-Russia Innovation Forum began from the idea that Lappeenranta has something special to offer to the co-operation between EU-based and Russian companies. Because of its location on the border of both EU and Russia, co-operation between different countries, companies and institutions had become a successful way of working to the region. Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland’s most international university, had impressive amount of know-how about business in Russia. It was time to share the success.

First Forum was organized in 2010 and it was the first high-level innovation event between EU and Russia. Even Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Finland Matti Vanhanen attended the event that focused on modernisation.

The second event in 2011 focused on Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, Information & Communication Technologies and Health & Pharma. It gathered a lot of companies in a large-scale two-day Business Matchmaking event.

Third event in 2012 gathered already over 800 people from 34 countries to Lappeenranta. 130 speakers including innovative company executives, start-up entrepreneurs, top researchers with knowledge of the latest trends, internationalisation experts, a Nobel Laureate, and renowned Russian politicians.

Today, EU-Russia Innovation Forum is focused on cleantech and energy - another strong area of expertise in Lappeenranta University of Technology. We expect to have more than 500 participants in June 2014 in Lappeenranta. The spirit of co-operation is alive and kicking - come to experience it!
